Coronavirus Food Assistance Programs

Coronavirus Food Assistance Program

Application ProcessProducers can apply for assistance beginning on May 26, 2020. Additional information and application forms can be found at farmers.gov/cfap . Producers of all eligible commodities will apply through their local FSA office. Documentation to support the producer’s application and certification may be requested. FSA has streamlined the signup process to not require an acreage report at the time of application and a USDA farm number may not be immediately needed. Applications will be accepted through August 28, 2020.

Applications must be submitted in person, by mail, email, fax, or to a county FSA office. USDA Service Centers are open for business by phone appointment only, so producers should call the appropriate FSA office once the application period opens. Additional details can be found on the USDA’s website: https://www.farmers.gov/cfap

CARES Act Relief Fund Announcement

NCBA President Marty Smith was at the White House today to take part in a roll-out of USDA’s Coronavirus Food Assistance Program (CFAP), which NCBA fought to secure for the industry. CFAP was authorized by Congress to provide relief funds to America’s cattle producers. While the initial round of relief funds is welcome assistance for the industry, much more will be needed to provide relief for farmers and ranchers who are facing catastrophic economic harm created by the COVID-19 pandemic. Specifically, the cow/calf and stocker segments of our industry were not provided the necessary relief needed to support them through this crisis.
